Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Fire Engineer to join our Building Design Practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering fire engineering design solutions to clients across various sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire engineering, with experience working with multiple fire standards, including BS9999, NFPA 130, and BS9992. You will be responsible for managing multiple engineering projects, from inception to delivery, while supporting junior team members and keeping up to date with evolving project milestones and budgets.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver fire engineering design solutions to clients across various sectors.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects, from inception to delivery.
  • Support junior team members and keep up to date with evolving project milestones and budgets.
  • Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
  • Chartered or on path to Chartership with a relevant institute.
  • Support the development of fire strategies.
  • Assess fire-related risks in projects and work collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
  • Review and comment on the quality of fire safety-related installations.
  • Undertake tenders for new work.
  • Develop client relationships to develop potential work opportunities.
  • Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.
  • Support and develop junior team members.
  • Act as technical reviewer on project submissions.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering.
  • Strong experience working with multiple fire standards, including BS9999, NFPA 130, and BS9992.
  • Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire strategies.
  • Fire modelling experience will be beneficial.
  • Working towards chartered fire engineer status.
  • A flexible approach to the working environment.
  • Willingness to travel will be a positive advantage.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.
