About the Role

As a Subcategory Manager at Harland & Wolff, you will play a critical role in driving the company's supply chain strategy forward. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of our procurement function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the overall supply chain strategy to improve operational efficiency and add value to the business.
  • Prepare tenders, EOI's, and Framework Agreements to ensure best practice in procurement.
  • Support the creation and delivery of templates to streamline procurement processes.
  • Act as a touch point for projects and stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and supplier relationships to drive business growth.
  • Implement spend/supply assessments, consolidation reviews, and sourcing analyses to optimize procurement processes.
  • Negotiate pricing with key suppliers to ensure alignment with the group purchasing strategy.
  • Develop requirements per category with onboarded and new suppliers to create Frameworks.
  • Manage and continually develop the supply chain/procurement function to drive business performance.
  • Work with the team to review suppliers for Major Subsystem Work Packages, supplier suitability, and willingness to deliver end-to-end/components of service.
  • Create strategies for subcategories, including Direct and Indirect support for manufactured goods and business operations.
  • Review supplier onboarding processes and due diligence as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify requirements for inclusion in categories.
  • Familiarize yourself with regulatory requirements and latest innovations within the Category/Subcategory area of expertise.
  • Cascade best practice and guidance to the remainder of the Procurement team.
  • Liaise with suppliers for KPIs (quality management, performance) and contractual issues.
  • Map cost levers for subcategories.
  • Support the creation of value engineering models to negotiate best pricing for categories.
  • Support ESG metrics within the supplier base.
  • Deal with queries and complaints from internal departments.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree and staff and/or technical project/process management experience, or equivalent.
  • Relevant Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering Degree or proof of relevant experience.
  • MCIPS or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of different types of contracts, including any law/contract background.

As a Subcategory Manager, you will be accountable for assisting in the setting of direction and deployment of resources. You will provide support for project/process expertise and/or manage the coordination of activities of a section or department through subordinate supervisors/team leads and/or professional staff.
