Job Summary

SGS UK Limited is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in the assessment of consumer products. As a key member of our Department, you will be responsible for carrying out routine testing and administration, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and applying and maintaining our Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing and analysis of consumer products to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Apply and maintain our Quality Management System to ensure consistency and quality in our testing processes.
  • Support the book-in process for testing samples and prepare samples for testing within the Chemistry Department.

Requirements

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths, Science, and English or other relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in a science-related area of work.
  • Effective working knowledge of Windows-associated packages (MS Office, etc.).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarization with UKAS accreditation.
  • Experience in preparing samples within a Hardlines Laboratory.
  • Previous mechanical testing or laboratory testing experience.
  • Worked within the toy/nursery industry with a focus on product safety.
