Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Science Specialist to join our team as a KTP Associate. This exciting opportunity is part of a collaborative project between Growers Garden and Abertay University, funded by Innovate UK. As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of new, healthy, and sustainable snack products, leveraging your expertise in food science and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative NPD projects, focusing on the creation of vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free snacks.
  • Collaborate with our team to understand ingredient interactions, optimize production processes, and improve nutritional profiles.
  • Design and deliver training programs for staff on new processes and procedures.
  • Maintain project plans, provide progress updates, and ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
  • Conduct research on brassicas and their interactions with other ingredients, exploring opportunities for process improvement and nutritional enhancement.
  • Expand our product portfolio to incorporate a range of healthy vegetables, while maintaining our commitment to sustainability.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and scientific excellence within the company.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Food Science Specialist with a strong background in food technology and a Master's or Honours degree in a relevant field. You should possess excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a commercial environment. Experience with analytical food science techniques, such as HPLC, LCMS, or GCMS, is highly desirable.

Working Arrangements

This role is based at Growers Garden's premises in Cupar, Fife, with regular visits to Abertay University. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working arrangements to accommodate the needs of the project.
