About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our Education Team at The Children's Trust. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex therapeutic, medical, and health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality support to children with complex needs, working under the direction of a teacher and in collaboration with the class team.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans to support the development and education of all pupils in your allocated class.
  • Assist teachers in providing relevant support for pupils with SLD, PMLD, and complex needs, including personal care and daily living skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team to ensure a holistic approach to education, health, and care.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and quality of life of all pupils.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with complex needs, including SLD, PMLD, and complex therapeutic, medical, and health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the children and the education team.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning theories, with a commitment to evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
