Behaviour Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Alternative Provision school in Littlehampton.

As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioural challenges, ensuring their academic and social success within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviours, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating empathy, patience and respect in all interactions.
  • Assist in the supervision of students during classroom activities, transitions and recess periods, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviours and redirect inappropriate behaviours effectively.

  • Preferably have experience of working with young people.
  • Committed, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.
