Engineering Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our IT team in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing software development projects, ensuring quality and performance, and developing the capability of our Software Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a cross-functional engineering team of 15-20
  • Ensure quality and performance
  • Oversee software development projects from inception to completion
  • Support the engineering team and other stakeholders to set goals for improving code quality, maintainability, security, and scalability
  • Coach and mentor engineers, helping facilitate innovation and new ideas as well as building robust, scalable enterprise applications
  • Support the recruitment and hiring of software engineers
  • Manage software engineering talent, ensuring the appropriate performance management processes are adhered to
  • Help create a culture that supports learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness
Experience and Skills Required:
  • Preferably educated to graduate level in an IT or software-related engineering degree and/or 10 years' experience in software engineering
  • 5 years or more managing teams of software engineers of at least 5 people
  • Proven, practical experiences in software engineering with previous experience as an engineer
  • Able to promote, support, and represent the engineering teams at a senior level
  • Understanding of and experience with SAFe, and agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft.NET, Microsoft SQL, and cloud Azure
