Our Nuclear New Build Projects

We are seeking full-time Structural Engineers to join our team working on Nuclear Island buildings of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and similar projects. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and reliability of the nuclear power plant structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
  • Perform structural calculations and modelling using advanced software and tools, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure the structural integrity and resilience of the reinforced concrete structures under various loads, including seismic, dynamic, and environmental factors.
  • Collaborate with detailing teams, including drafting teams, BIM Coordinators and other designer engineers, to ensure coordination and integration of design requirements.
  • Conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine the impact on the reinforced concrete structures and propose necessary design modifications.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation for the reinforced concrete structures.
  • Work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve any structural issues or challenges during the construction phase.
  • Collaborate with clients, construction teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in nuclear structural engineering.

Requirements

  • Background in working in the nuclear industry or another highly heavy industry sector.
  • Established career in Civil Structural Engineering, with a MSc in Civil engineering or equivalent relevant subject.
  • Experience working on the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically with European Pressurized Reactors (EPR).
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structures.
  • Proficiency in using structural analysis software, such as ANSYS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prior experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures in a nuclear or high-risk industry.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and quality control procedures related to nuclear structures.
  • Professional licensure or chartered status in Structural Engineering is advantageous.
  • Experience with on-site design support: working with contractors on site to deliver the implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in nuclear engineering projects.
  • Experience of 3D BIM modelling such as TEKLA, Naviswork.
  • Excellent report writing and logical thinking.
