Job Role Overview

We are excited to offer a position in our team of dedicated specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting maternal safety within our unit, with a specific focus on obstetrics, fetal medicine, and high-risk obstetrics. An interest in maternal medicine would be advantageous and supportive to our existing specialist team.

  • Lead and oversee the Obstetric and Gynaecology Department, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement standards and procedures for safe and efficient patient care, aligning with our trust's commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to their learning and development, fostering a culture of growth and mentorship.
  • Engage in risk management activities to ensure quality care, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Participate in educational programs and training for medical and support staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Maintain an up-to-date job and personal development plan, ensuring alignment with our trust's goals and objectives.
  • Provide expert advice to General Practitioners on patient admissions, ensuring seamless transitions and high-quality care.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) or equivalent.
  • Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or within 6 months of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
  • Advanced Training in Fetal Medicine (ATSM) or equivalent.
  • Advanced Training in Advanced Labour Ward Practice (ATSM) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Higher degree in a relevant field.
  • Membership of the Maternal and Fetal Medicine (MOET/ALSO) or equivalent.
  • PROMPT trained and faculty.
  • Subspecialist training in Fetal Maternal Medicine or equivalent.
  • Advanced Training in Antenatal Care/High Risk Pregnancy (ATSM) or equivalent.
