About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Obstetrician to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Obstetric and Gynaecology Department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading a team of medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and administrative responsibility for the proper functioning of the Obstetric and Gynaecology Department.
  • Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and robust systems to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care.
  • Supervise junior medical staff and provide educational and clinical support to ensure their development and growth.
  • Participate in risk management activities to ensure the safe and quality care of women and their families.
  • Contribute to educational programs for junior medical staff, including formal teaching sessions and clinical audits.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines.
  • Ensure the highest standards of patient care and maintain a robust process for reviewing the quality of services provided.
Requirements
  • MRCOG or equivalent qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Training and experience equivalent to that required for UK CCT.
  • Entry onto the Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or within 6 months of CCT date at interview.
  • ATSM in Benign Gynaecology: Hysteroscopy or equivalent experience.
  • ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of governance processes.
Desirable Qualifications
  • MOET/ALSO or equivalent training.
  • PROMPT trained and faculty.
  • BSCCP accreditation.
  • Additional Governance training.
  • Research experience, including participation in national trials.
