About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join our client, a thriving SME Property business. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial expertise and support to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee bank reconciliation work, including new virtual client accounts for deposits
  • Reconcile external agent statements
  • Perform quarter-end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare quarter-end journals (data exported from Qube)
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts
  • Sub-consolidate by asset class, with a focus on the residential portfolio
  • Prepare ad-hoc property P&Ls
  • Check on the completeness of tenant recharges
  • Prepare commercial arrears reports for internal meetings
  • Analyze new lettings and renewals
  • Produce monthly tenancy summaries

Covenant Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly reporting for bank loan covenants
  • Prepare property reports (new leases / renewals / tenant breaks / rent reviews etc)
  • Review the EPC register periodically

Statutory Reporting and Tax

  • Prepare Corporation Tax analysis packs for the external tax compliance team
  • Collate information for capital allowance reviews
  • Assist with the provision of information to external auditors

Qube Database

  • Act as one of a restricted number of database administrators once trained
  • Process 'data change forms' from surveyors
  • Review the accuracy and uniformity of the database

Systems / Longer Term Projects

  • Integrate complementary MRI Qube products

Requirements

  • Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • Trained with a smaller firm of accountants, with experience extending beyond pure audit (i.e. accounts preparation, tax etc)
  • 1-5 years post-qualification experience, either in practice or commerce
  • Real estate experience / knowledge desirable but not essential
  • Strong double-entry booking essential
  • Strong Excel skills essential (pivots and lookups 'second-nature')
  • 'Hands-on' / 'completer-finisher' approach
  • Takes ownership of work
  • Presents financial information clearly and accurately
  • Analytical mind, to review financials and identify errors, omissions and opportunities
  • Confidence to challenge the status-quo, and recommend improvements to systems and processes
