Our client, a family-owned and financially independent developer and contractor, is dedicated to being a premier customer-centric developer of quality residences and sustainable communities across various sectors in the housing market. The Junior Management Accountant will collaborate closely with the Head of Finance and the broader Group Finance team to ensure compliance with group policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile monthly development evaluations, including the input of incurred costs, forecasting future expenses, and ensuring accurate cash flow and profit projections.
- Prepare materials for board meetings, encompassing KPI reports and dashboards.
- Guarantee precise and timely reporting of all financial data for the division.
- Oversee the posting of monthly journals, manage the Trial Balance, and ensure reconciliation of control accounts and preparation of management accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of bank drawdowns, including the provision of invoice copies and drafting drawdown letters to financial institutions.
- Confirm loan repayments with financial partners.
- Act as a key member of the Housebuilding COINS implementation team.
- Support the preparation of financial due diligence reviews for subcontractors.
- Assist in establishing Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
- Calculate Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and overage payments, preparing necessary payment requests.
- Help in the preparation of monthly VAT returns, identifying any discrepancies.
- Review council tax, business rates, utility expenses, estate agent fees, and various other costs.
- Prepare payment requests for expenditures, ensuring costs align with budgetary constraints.
- Compile essential Build Stage progress reports.
- Engage in additional project work to support the Head of Finance.
- Visit development sites to gain insights into ongoing projects.
Requirements
- Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent).
- Experience in the housebuilding sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial and management accounting principles (Accruals, Prepayments, Intercompany reconciliations).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel at an advanced level (XLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, Conditional Formatting).
- Strong report writing capabilities with the ability to articulate financial results effectively at various levels.
- Experience with the COINS system is preferred but not essential.
