Job Description

Job Title: Head of Clinical Engineering

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Clinical Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our comprehensive Trust-wide medical equipment maintenance and management service, leading our medical device innovation activities, and chairing the Trust's Medical Devices Management Group.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of over 80 staff, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of excellent Clinical Engineering services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve the management and maintenance of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Chair the Trust's Medical Devices Management Group, providing leadership and guidance on medical device-related matters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, managers, and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage budgets and financial resources, ensuring the efficient use of resources and the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative solutions to improve patient care and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Degree-level knowledge and experience of leadership, strategy, and management.
  • Honours degree (minimum 2ii) or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, or an allied subject.
  • Postgraduate education to doctoral level in Engineering, Physics, or a relevant subject area or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Registered professional in a relevant technical area.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or Chartered Engineer status.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to take a corporate approach to key issues.
  • Well-developed IT skills to manage and report on performance management information systems.

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to demonstrate successfully translating strategic planning into successful operational delivery.
  • Drive and energy to make things happen and achieve outcomes.

Salary: £88,168 to £101,677 a year pro rata for part-time staff.
