Job Summary:

The Health and Safety Manager will play a critical role in managing and implementing the health and safety policies and procedures across all our civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with local, national, and industry-specific safety regulations, as well as promoting a culture of safety within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for all project sites and activities, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate control measures.
  • Regularly visit construction sites to inspect safety conditions, identify non-compliance, and provide guidance to ensure that safety standards are met.
  • Organize and deliver health and safety training for all employees, contractors, and site visitors, ensuring they are aware of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor and review compliance with safety regulations, conducting audits and inspections as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, including incident reports, risk assessments, training records, and safety audits.
  • Stay updated on the latest health and safety regulations and industry best practices, and recommend improvements to the company's safety programs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in the civil engineering or construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the construction sector.
  • Proficient in the use of safety management software and tools.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites.
