About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Metrology Engineer to join our Instrumentation Calibration Services (ICS) team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring teams to ensure that their work meets quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review the impact of problems, issues, and solutions on platforms, systems, assemblies, and units to ensure that there are no unforeseen consequences.
  2. Lead and coach teams to ensure they understand systems and protocols associated with work and tasks, and that their work is reviewed and approved.
  3. Analyse problems related to platform and support system issues, generate proposed solutions, and review solutions including all documentation and approved data.
  4. Ensure work meets quality, cost, and schedule requirements, and complete and report status against own and team's workload.
Requirements
  1. CMI L5 / HNC / HND or equivalent experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience in Metrology, Calibration, or other related fields.
  3. Experience with apprenticeship standards, developing and coaching new starters.
  4. Ability to apply depth of expertise relating to engineering systems to resolve complex challenges, issues, and faults.
  5. Experience in establishing and maintaining direct contact and interface with customers and management, and delivering projects.
