VAT Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Manager to join our team at Buzzacott. As a VAT Manager, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on VAT matters to our clients, including preparing and reviewing complex VAT returns, undertaking VAT health checks, and advising on liability queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review complex VAT returns and annual adjustments, including partial exemption and business/non-business apportionment.
  • Prepare voluntary declarations for VAT and undertake VAT health checks on client activities.
  • Advise on liability queries, including VAT treatment of transactions and place of supply of services.
  • Advise on property issues, including new builds, building works, and capital goods scheme.
  • Respond to ad hoc questions from clients and team members on a wide range of VAT issues.
  • Contribute to VAT team publications and undertake training for clients and staff.
  • Identify potential sources of work from existing and potential new clients and consider cross-selling opportunities.

Requirements:

  • CTA and/or AIIT part qualified, qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Experience of providing planning and structuring VAT advice on transactions.
  • Experience of dealing with the wide variety of VAT issues faced by clients in the corporate sector.
  • Ability to work well with team members and clearly explain complex issues to colleagues, clients, and HM Revenue & Customs.
  • Positive and practical attitude, with a willingness to support other team members and a desire to learn and progress.
