About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Operational Procurement to join our team at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team in delivering a business-critical portfolio of clinical and non-clinical procurement projects across the Health Board and partner organizations.
  • Manage, motivate, and provide leadership to own team, providing clear goals and targets through deployment of the agreed performance management framework.
  • Provide specialist procurement leadership, technical expertise, and advice across the wide and diverse range of the Health Board service areas and disciplines.
  • Develop own team and enhance capability through providing technical expertise, motivation, delegating, and by providing hands-on training, cross-skilling, and giving feedback to team members.
  • Lead and develop the clinical and non-clinical procurement team to develop sourcing strategies with stakeholders and embed and deliver a category management and business partnering approach to strategic and operational procurement delivery.
Requirements
  • Significant experience at a senior level in dealing with complex procurements.
  • Experience of managing contractors, professional, and administrative staff and resources to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Experience of developing and implementing purchasing and services management solutions, and managing high-value purchases that require analysis, comparison, and assessment.
