Overview of the Position

In collaboration with Partners and Directors, you will oversee the interaction between a portfolio of clients and the firm, ensuring that the clients' expectations regarding service, quality, and cost are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognizing and advising on VAT planning opportunities, while undertaking specialized technical assignments as necessary.
  • Prioritizing responses to client correspondence, ensuring that both the client and partner are kept fully informed about the status of VAT-related tasks.
  • Serving as the primary contact for clients regarding VAT inquiries, maintaining exceptional client service at all times.
  • Executing tasks assigned by the Partner or Director.
  • Facilitating effective communication with other departments.
  • Diligently monitoring work progress reports to ensure the profitable recoverability of completed work and timely billing of clients.
  • Advancing your technical expertise through relevant reading and training, while staying informed about the firm's services, brochures, and publications.
  • Identifying, engaging, and converting potential clients, as well as supporting other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for new business.
  • Actively participating in prospective client seminars and effectively following up with contacts made.
  • Assisting in the review and quality control processes, as well as the administration of the department as needed.
  • Attending staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintaining awareness of Health and Safety issues within the firm and reporting any concerns to the Health and Safety Representative.
  • Performing any other duties that fall within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the role, as requested by the line manager or Head of Department.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will possess prior experience at the Manager or Associate Director level within VAT, along with a proven track record of securing work and/or the ability to generate fees from the existing client base. You will be adept at mentoring junior staff and fostering a positive team environment. Key attributes include:

  • Capability to build and lead a team of VAT professionals.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to set and achieve targets.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with demonstrated experience in client management.
