Qualifications: A degree or equivalent qualification in a field related to local government regulations, such as Environmental Health or Trading Standards.

Casual Car Documentation: The selected candidate will be designated as a Casual Car User, meaning occasional car journeys may be necessary, though not essential. If driving is required, a valid driving license and personal vehicle must be provided, along with all necessary documentation. An allowance will be granted for business mileage.

BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) Clearance: This position requires BPSS checks, including verification of identity, nationality, immigration status, employment history for the past three years, and a basic criminal record check.

Role Responsibilities: This position involves overseeing officers within the Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering services related to housing standards in the private sector and managing both responsive and proactive enforcement of applicable housing and environmental legislation to protect residents and communities. Managers are expected to implement a systematic inspection program for privately rented properties.

The Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team addresses reports of housing disrepair and health and safety issues within the private rental sector, taking necessary enforcement actions. The team is responsible for licensing and conducting scheduled inspections of licensable Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and selectively licensed properties. Collaboration with the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is essential, as the team engages in proactive initiatives to address inadequate and hazardous housing conditions across the region.
