We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Mirus Aircraft Seating. As a key member of our production team, you will play a critical role in the development, testing, and continuous improvement of commercial aerospace products and manufacturing assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure production readiness of new product development programs, leading readiness reviews and planning activities to support manufacturing engineering requirements with Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/A), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and project execution throughout the New Product Introduction (NPD/I) process.
- Design, manufacture, and introduce tooling and assembly aids.
- Provide expertise and support in driving continuous improvement throughout to optimize the performance of our products and processes using Lean Sigma and APQP methodologies.
- Specify new equipment, processes, and methods for investment or incorporation in line with business objectives.
- Perform process and performance optimization activities to achieve manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvement.
- Reduce operational risk using structured tools and techniques.
- Improve production operations with system improvements and create a lean manufacturing culture.
- Develop and implement process performance and development improvement projects using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) approach.
- Develop and implement in-process writing tasks, using interlocked and error-proofing process control systems.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as automotive or aerospace OEM or first-tier supplier or equivalent industries as a manufacturing or production engineer.
- Experience of working within a team to meet set deliverables within a manufacturing or production department.
- Practical working knowledge in the application and implementation of lean manufacturing.
- Experience in the facilitation and delivery of industrial risk management tools, such as APQP, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and control plans.
- Demonstrable experience of influencing product realization using a structured approach to design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/A/C).
- Experience in conducting Production Part Approval Process (PPR) reviews and the effective communication/presentation of results and actions in project gate reviews.
- Practical working knowledge of robotics and automation, including operational programming.
- Project/program management experience.
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and improve existing production processes.
- Demonstrable experience in communicating to audiences of different levels through various channels in a concise manner.
- High level of personal accountability and a strong bias for action.
- Technical experience in manufacturing engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, electrical).
- Or a relevant Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) qualification/apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
