Locum Consultant in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Uveitis Specialist

The Department of Ophthalmology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Locum Consultant to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will have expertise in neuro-ophthalmology and uveitis, and will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality services to patients.
Main Responsibilities- Provide high-quality care to patients with neuro-ophthalmological and uveitic conditions
- Participate in the diagnosis and management of patients in outpatients and inpatients
- Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties of the post
- Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities
- Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views
- Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust's translational research portfolio
- Provide high-quality teaching to medical undergraduates, postgraduate trainees, and members of other healthcare professions
- Work with medical, nursing, and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in clinical efficiency, financial management, and operational efficiency
- Manage locum agency spend, monitor and manage the drug budget to target, and ensure accuracy of clinical data for the team
- Work with colleagues to ensure junior doctors' hours are compliant with the European Working Time Directive and the New Deal
- Ensure adequate systems and procedures are in place to control and monitor leave for junior medical staff
- Review clinical outcomes in designated areas using external benchmarking data, identify and advise variances to the Clinical Director
- Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting, and analysis, and ensure resulting actions are implemented
- Participate in the business planning and objective setting process for the directorate and Trust
- Represent the Trust at appropriate clinical networks and external clinical meetings
- Demonstrate excellent leadership skills with regard to individual performance, clinical teams, and the Trust
- Work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and King's Health Partners
