Job Overview

The Perinatal Community Mental Health Service is a specialist secondary care multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry, psychological therapies, occupational therapy, specialist nursing and nursery nursing, social work, and peer support. We also meet regularly as a whole service for reflective practice, complex case discussions, and business meetings to ensure smooth operations and collaborative service development.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder plays a key role in the Perinatal team by developing performance information, analysing data, submitting statutory returns, and supporting service improvement. The Business Manager leads business functions, producing performance reports, business cases, and collaborating with external agencies to achieve integrated information.

  • Assist the team in developing, implementing and maintaining care group specific policies, protocols and related systems.
  • Representing and making decisions on behalf of the care group which relates to either performance, or business decisions as delegated by clinical and operational leadership.
  • Supporting the work of the Team in the completion of their tasks specifically ensuring auditable completion of performance and risk / safety tasks.
  • Proactively engaging in Trust-wide policy development, personally ensuring recommendations from Serious Untoward Incidents (SUIs), near misses, complaints and other incidents are shared and benefit all care groups.
Performance Information and Systems

To develop key working relationships with key people within the Trust to help support and develop the business of the care group and to play an active part in developing and achieving a culture of performance management.

Initiate and develop new data sets by identifying requirements, designing and implementing data collection processes and reviewing outputs.

Promote and facilitate access and use of performance information for senior managers, clinical and non-clinical staff to assist in the delivery of services. Ensuring new service developments are in keeping with current national and local targets.

To act as a central point and expert for queries and information on all matters relating to performance within the care group.

To lead on the production, analysis, useful presentation and dissemination of information to key people within deadlines to aid decision-making for service improvements and changes; to be responsible for the analysis, investigation and resolution of anomalies and issues.

To work with and manage business sensitive information and establish systems appropriately.

Ensure that the care group has comprehensive performance management arrangements in place including audit trails, so that the clinical and operational leadership have accurate and timely information on service activity against national, commissioning and internal targets. These arrangements will require the post holder to undertake analysis of activity and assist the Service Director with financial performance information to identify trends and variances and take delegated actions as necessary.

Ensure that the Performance / Business workload information is managed within the care group and maximum efficiency achieved.

Produce and communicate a range of complex and sometimes sensitive information to support service planning, improvement and change.

Provide project support to the team, involving preparing plans, working to deadlines, implementing action and monitoring and reporting on progress of delivery.

Contribute to and support the team objective planning process.

To manage designated projects as required by the Clinical and operational leadership.
