We are seeking an experienced Principal Sustainability and Climate Change Consultant to join our Smart Energy and Sustainability team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality sustainability and climate change expertise to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Work with client teams to identify opportunities for sustainable design measures and energy and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Coordinate technical disciplines for early and effective incorporation of climate change within Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
- Highlight the most impactful areas of influencing decision-makers to foster improvement and identify value drivers.
- Prepare high-quality energy, sustainability, and climate change reporting to provide advice to clients and project teams.
- Manage data effectively, including setting up and maintaining project databases and calculation sheets.
- Participate in relevant external expert forums to advance and standardize environmental sustainability performance quantification.
- Train and upskill junior team members on relevant workstreams and project management activities.
- Contribute to regional business development activities and sales generation.
- Hold a relevant degree, such as a BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons), or equivalent/higher.
- Background in one or more of the following areas: environmental planning, EIA, climate change, DCO, town planning, urban planning, urban design, urbanism, placemaking, Masterplanning, or public realm.
- Experience as a project leader in a similar role.
- Significant working knowledge of environmental impact assessments (EIA), with specific experience delivering sustainability and climate change expertise to Environmental Statements, unlocking new developments for clients.
- Desirable attributes include:
- Hold chartership/membership of relevant technical institutions (e.g., RITP, RIBA, EI, IEMA, IEEM, etc.).
- Experience contributing to an EIA on a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIPs) and/or Developments of National Significance (DNSs).
- Experience in pre-application public consultations and stakeholder engagement.
