About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) to join our esteemed organization, working within our team(s) in various locations.
At Cafcass, we empower our professionals to operate in a flexible manner, equipping them with the necessary resources and support to advocate for children and young people during pivotal family court decisions.
Our recent Ofsted inspection recognized us as 'outstanding', a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement in serving children and families.
This position allows for flexible working arrangements, with the option to work remotely. Proximity to the office is not a primary concern.
We pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive organization, creating a safe environment for colleagues with shared identities and experiences. We actively encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds to reflect the communities we serve.
Our organization offers comprehensive wellbeing support and attractive benefits to foster a positive work environment.
Role Responsibilities:
As a member of the Work After First Hearing team, you will utilize your social work expertise to assess the needs, desires, and emotions of children. Your role will involve advising the Family Courts on optimal actions for the child, delivering clear and impactful written case analyses, and making informed recommendations. You will also represent the child in court, ensuring their perspective is heard.
In the Private Law team, Family Court Advisers assist families requiring court intervention to establish suitable arrangements for their children. This role includes conducting assessments, engaging directly with children to understand their views, and advocating for their best interests through written reports and court testimony, employing strong risk assessment and mediation skills.
Candidate Profile:
Being a Family Court Adviser is fulfilling yet challenging. Candidates must be registered social workers with Social Work England, demonstrating strong organizational skills, resilience, and the ability to work autonomously. Successful applicants will have substantial experience working with children and families in a social work capacity, potentially enhanced by relevant prior experience.
