About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Torus Group as a Night Worker, working in a dynamic and supportive environment to provide frontline services to individuals residing in refuge accommodation and during their resettlement as they move on to independent living.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Manage your own time and caseload, working intensively with a number of clients to provide emotional and practical support via 1:1 sessions and support clients to access other services within the community.
  • Risk Management: Identify support needs via a needs and risk assessment and work with your clients to develop SMART targets as part of a support plan which you will review on a regular basis.
  • Advocacy: Act as an advocate for your clients, working collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to ensure that individual needs are met, and outcomes achieved.
  • Teamwork: Work well within our team, providing a positive attitude to both Torus and towards your own learning and development, and proactively seek opportunities to develop professional competencies including IT skills.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain the security of the building and keep occupants safe, ensuring clients are aware of health and safety issues and behave in a way that promotes good health and safety for themselves and others in refuge services.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Complete assessments and reviews for individuals and deliver support which is outcome focused and which promotes independence.
  • Communication: Develop, plan and deliver 1:1 sessions with clients either in the Refuge, their own homes or by assisting to access services with the local community in line with their assessment and support plan.
  • Resettlement: Plan and assist with client resettlement into communities; completing home visits and liaising with other professionals and services to maximise sustainability of tenancy.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure residents are adhering to the guidelines and conditions of occupancy and carry out first and second level warning for breaches whilst in Refuge.
  • Helpline Support: Provide assistance, information and support to callers of the 24-hour helpline and carry out emergency admissions where required.
  • Record Keeping: Complete agreed client-based records, contact sheets, and safeguarding logs.
  • Training: Support with in-house Domestic Abuse training and facilitate tenant engagement activities, seeking tenant feedback.
  • Safeguarding Policies: Promote safety and protection of vulnerable adults and children by ensuring that all safeguarding issues and concerns are reported promptly in accordance with St Helens Borough Council's and Torus Safeguarding Policies.
  • Policy and Procedure: Be well-informed about policy, procedure, organisational changes and other relevant legislation, regulations and guidance to provide up to date information to customers when needed.
  • Partnerships: Attend partnerships meetings, including Family Action Meetings, Core groups and Case Conferences where required.
  • Handover Information: Ensure that handover information is distributed in a timely manner and information for reports such as MARAC updates are shared to Refuge Coordinators and the wider team where required.
