Product Design (Mechanical) Placement Student

CPI is seeking a talented and motivated placement student to join our established and growing product design team on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

About the Role
  • Assist team members with research, design, prototyping, and testing of electro-mechanical devices.
  • Become an expert on various forms of additive manufacturing, including design, operation, and maintenance of such systems.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the product development process and key aspects involved in developing highly regulated products.
  • Develop new and innovative manufacturing processes or demonstration devices to expand CPI's offering to new and existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test mechanical devices.
  • Design and develop prototypes using 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in product design.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports.
Requirements
  • Studying towards an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product or Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of design, development, and manufacture of mechanical devices.
  • Experience in using 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing.
  • Interest in the field of medical devices and technologies.
  • Some knowledge and experience in designing products that contain electronics.
