Job Title: Specialist Mentor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Mentor to join our team at Randstad Student Support. As a Specialist Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting university students who are autistic, providing them with the guidance and support they need to succeed in their academic journey.

About the Role:

This is a specialist role that requires the correct qualifications and training. All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), and you must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.

Candidates must be qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum) and have taken extensive training in adult autism. The extensive training may include:

  • 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non medical helper package)
  • The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

As a Specialist Mentor, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting students in understanding what is required of them academically
  • Developing time management and organisational skills
  • Breaking down tasks to meet deadlines
  • Achieving an appropriate balance in study and daily living
  • Managing anxiety, stress or low mood
  • Preparing for new experiences
  • Building on confidence and strengths to become an independent learner
