Job Title: Community Coordinator

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Coordinator to join our team at Refugee Roots. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in fostering a sense of community and belonging for refugees and asylum seekers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for asylum seekers and refugees, promoting their integration and independence in society.
  • Coordinate group sessions that build confidence, develop skills, and reduce isolation, including working with and organizing volunteers at activities and projects.
  • Support communications and social media messaging to share information with participants and demonstrate the impact of funded projects and activities.
  • Work in partnership with Christian charities, organizations, churches, and other faith groups and community organizations.
  • Lead on the administration of the monitoring and evaluation of funded projects and activities.
  • Support reporting to funders.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date risk assessments for all activities.
  • Participate in own professional development, including supervision, appraisal, and appropriate training as agreed with the line manager.
  • Attend meetings with other agencies on behalf of Refugee Roots as and when required.

Person Specification:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Relevant experience relating to the job.
  • Relevant degree and/or professional qualifications in a related field.
  • Able to use initiative and work independently, as well as maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with the team.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding.
  • An understanding of the needs and hopes of refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Experience of organizing and coordinating projects and support initiatives.
  • Working with and/or coordinating and training volunteers.
