Job Title: Academic Adviser

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Adviser to join our team at First Recruitment Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and Develop HSQE Policies: Assist in the development and implementation of Freedom Fibre's HSQE policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Legislative Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changing HSQE legislation and ensure the company remains compliant, with effective management of duties and responsibilities.
  • Incident Investigations: Participate in HSE incident and accident investigations, and lead such investigations when required, to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and Development: Conduct HSQE new starter induction training for Freedom Fibre employees, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as an advisory point for all staff and managers on HSQE matters, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
  • Site Safety Audits: Conduct site safety audits of Freedom Fibre site operatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Statutory Obligations: Ensure all statutory obligations around service and maintenance of plant and equipment are met in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance.
  • Health and Safety Requirements: Oversee the Health and Safety requirements of Building and facilities, supporting the Estates Manager as needed to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Document Control: Maintain the Valto document control system, ensuring it remains compliant and up-to-date with the latest regulations and industry best practices.
  • HSQE Communications: Support the HSQE department in preparing HSQE communications, including toolbox talks, Safety Alerts, and Bulletins, to ensure effective communication and awareness among staff.

Qualifications:

  • Nebosh Certificate – General or Construction or above
  • ISO accreditation training / experience (lead auditor, general awareness)
