Job Description:

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transport Planner to join our team in Cambridge. As a Senior Transport Planner, you will be responsible for engaging in all aspects of transport planning, traffic, and transportation engineering. This will include the preparation of Transport Assessments for new developments, providing advice on the transport aspects of development master planning, and managing smaller individual projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transport Assessments for new developments
  • Provide advice on the transport aspects of development master planning
  • Manage smaller individual projects
  • Provide professional and technical support to directors engaged in larger projects
  • Analyse data from transportation software packages
  • Attend meetings, presentations, public consultation events, and undertake site visits

Client Base:

The consultancy primarily serves private sector clients. As the Senior Transport Planner, you will work on a variety of projects, including:

  • Medium to large warehouses
  • Residential developments ranging from 200-500 units to 2000-10000 units
  • Commercial developments
  • Food retailers
  • Leisure projects

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Understanding of and experience of working in the Planning Regulatory framework, and knowledge of planning and transport policy as applied to development
  • Sound technical experience, including familiarity with relevant software e.g. TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY
  • A working knowledge of the relevant highway standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and the Manual for Streets
  • Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously when required
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally)

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in some or all of the above fields
  • Computer literate
  • Good working knowledge of Transport Assessments and traffic modelling programs
  • Experience of a range of Transport Planning solutions for both public and private sectors
  • Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy
