Position Overview
As a vital member of the Justice Social Work service, the Community Support Specialist will engage with diverse teams across multiple locations, focusing on areas such as Community Payback Orders, Unpaid Work, and Throughcare.

Core Principles
Our commitment lies in early intervention and prevention, emphasizing relationship-based practices, practical support, and determined outreach efforts.

Target Population
This role involves working with individuals who have committed offenses, encompassing a spectrum of risk and need levels. This includes cases involving sexual offenses, domestic abuse, and violent behavior, which can present complex challenges.

Considerations
While we provide supervision and training, it is essential to recognize that this work may not be suitable for everyone and can be emotionally taxing. We encourage candidates to reflect carefully and seek additional information before expressing interest.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Ordinary/Standard Grade English or an equivalent qualification
- Registration with the SSSC where applicable, or a commitment to achieve this within a specified timeframe
- A Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG)

Key Responsibilities
The Community Support Specialist is expected to demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including professionals, service users, and caregivers
- Make informed decisions and take responsibility for their practice, seeking guidance when necessary
- Support individuals exhibiting a range of challenging behaviors
- Work autonomously while contributing to team dynamics
- Manage competing demands, priorities, and deadlines
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service users and their families
- Recognize support needs, promoting dignity, respect, and independent living
- Advocate for service users, ensuring their views are acknowledged and rights are upheld
- Produce high-quality written reports
- Participate actively in team meetings, supervision, and performance reviews
- Utilize good ICT skills
