Position Overview

The Justice Social Work department operates as a dynamic service comprising nine teams distributed across multiple locations, focusing on various areas such as Pre-Disposal, Community Payback Orders, Unpaid Work, Throughcare, Caledonian, Women's Services, and Support Work. Our commitment lies in the principles of early intervention and prevention, fostering relationship-based practices, providing practical assistance when feasible, and engaging in determined outreach when required. We work with individuals who have engaged in offenses across a spectrum of risk and need, including those involved in sexual, domestic abuse, and violent offenses, where the nature of the work can be intricate and demanding.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess at least:

- Ordinary/Standard Grade English or an equivalent qualification

- Registration with the SSSC where applicable, or a commitment to achieve this within a designated timeframe

- A Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate:

- Proficiency in collaborating with stakeholders, including a diverse range of professionals, service users, and caregivers

- The capacity to make informed decisions and take accountability for personal practice, while seeking guidance and support as needed

- Skills to assist individuals who may exhibit a variety of challenging behaviors

- Independence in work while contributing effectively to team dynamics

- Competence in managing competing demands, priorities, and deadlines

- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with service users, their families, and other stakeholders

- Commitment to best practices, recognizing support needs, promoting dignity, respect, and independent living, while exhibiting unconditional positive regard

- Advocacy for service users, ensuring their perspectives are acknowledged and their rights are upheld

- Ability to produce high-quality written documentation

- Participation as a collaborative team member

- Engagement in staff meetings, supervision, performance evaluations, and team planning

- Adherence to deadlines

- Proficient ICT skills
