Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Support and Care Assistant to contribute to our mission at Southern Housing.

This role involves collaborating with a team to deliver tailored care and assistance to residents and individuals utilizing our services, adhering to established care and support strategies. You will engage with older adults, individuals with disabilities, those experiencing mental health challenges, and clients with intricate needs.

The Support and Care Assistant position encompasses services within supported living environments, enhanced care facilities, and community outreach programs.

Flexibility in your schedule is essential, as you may be required to cover evening and weekend shifts to fulfill service demands.

Physical capability for moving and handling tasks is necessary, along with access to a vehicle insured for business use. An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check will be conducted.

In this capacity, you may also be expected to perform sleep-in duties and participate in an on-call schedule.

Work Schedule

This role is part-time, with a contracted commitment of 25 hours per week.

Location of Service

Your primary responsibilities will be carried out at our Green Meadows facility, located in Freshwater, Isle of Wight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized care to residents and service users as outlined in their individualized care plans, which may include personal hygiene assistance.
  • Provide care in a manner that fosters independence, respects rights, and encourages community involvement.
  • Call for professional help in emergency situations.
  • Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission standards, maintaining up-to-date care plans and risk assessments that reflect individual needs and preferences.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent Grade 9-5), including Mathematics and English.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Proficient written communication and numeracy abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Understanding of personal boundaries.
  • Familiarity with CQC requirements.
