Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Care & Support Worker to become a vital part of our team at Southern Housing.
Your role will involve collaborating with colleagues to deliver tailored care and assistance to residents and individuals utilizing our services, adhering to established care and support plans. You will engage with older adults, individuals with learning disabilities and autism, those facing mental health challenges, and people with complex needs.
The Care & Support Worker position encompasses services within supported housing schemes, extra care facilities, and community-oriented services.
Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to cover evening and weekend shifts to accommodate the needs of the service.
Physical capability to perform moving and handling tasks is necessary, along with access to a vehicle insured for business use. An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check will be conducted.
In this role, you may also be expected to perform sleep-in duties and participate in the on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized care to residents and individuals as outlined in their care plans, which may include personal care tasks.
- Provide care in a manner that fosters independence, respects rights, and promotes community inclusion.
- Call for professional assistance in emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission standards, maintaining up-to-date care plans and risk assessments that reflect individual needs and preferences.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent Grade 9-5), including Maths and English.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- Proficient written communication and numeracy abilities.
- Basic IT proficiency.
- Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
- Understanding of personal boundaries.
- Familiarity with CQC requirements.
