Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Support and Care Assistant to contribute to our mission at Southern Housing.

In this role, you will collaborate with a team to deliver tailored care and assistance to residents and individuals utilizing our services, adhering to established care and support frameworks. Your focus will be on older adults, those who are frail, individuals with learning disabilities and autism, as well as those facing mental health challenges and complex needs.

The Support and Care Assistant position encompasses services within supported housing environments, extra care facilities, and community-based programs.

Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to work evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of the service.

Applicants must be physically capable of performing moving and handling tasks, possess a vehicle with business use insurance, and will undergo an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

This role may involve sleep-in responsibilities and participation in an on-call rota.

Work Schedule

This position is part-time, with a contracted schedule of 25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized care to residents and service users as outlined in their individual care plans, which may include personal care tasks.
  • Provide care in a manner that encourages independence, respects rights, and fosters community inclusion.
  • Call for professional assistance in emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission standards, maintaining up-to-date care plans and risk assessments that reflect the unique needs and preferences of residents.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent Grade 9-5), including Mathematics and English.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Proficient written communication and numeracy abilities.
  • Basic IT proficiency.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
  • Understanding of personal boundaries.
  • Familiarity with CQC requirements.
