Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a leading manufacturer of detection technology, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop mechanical structures, including fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
  2. Produce general arrangement and assembly drawings/instructions as required.
  3. Manage bills of materials to support assemblies.
  4. Ensure mechanical designs incorporate support for electrical and other system components.
  5. Collaborate with the engineering design team, participating in design reviews, new project kick-off meetings, and customer meetings as needed.
  6. Responsible for design sign-off to the manufacturing group and processing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) through the document control system.
Requirements:
  1. HNC or higher in mechanical engineering is required, although equivalent industrial experience will be considered.
  2. SolidWorks design experience is essential, with a proven track record in the design of fabrications, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  1. Strong background in creating new design concepts for heavily fabricated products.
  2. Understanding of the skills required to develop complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  3. Experience of design for manufacture with a background in a production environment would be beneficial.
  4. Ability to work with other design packages such as Autodesk Inventor would be beneficial.
