Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Matchtech Technology is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and products.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop mechanical systems and products, including fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
  2. Produce general arrangement and assembly drawings/instructions as required.
  3. Take responsibility for bills of materials to support assemblies.
  4. Ensure that mechanical designs include support for electrical and other system components.
  5. Work within the engineering design framework, participating in design reviews, new project kick-off meetings, and customer meetings as required.
  6. Responsible for design sign-off to the manufacturing group and processing Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) through the document control system.
Requirements:
  1. HNC or higher in mechanical engineering is preferred, although equivalent industrial experience will be considered.
  2. SolidWorks design experience is essential with a proven track record in the design of fabrications, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. Strong background in the creation of new design concepts for heavily fabricated products.
  2. Understanding of the skills required to develop complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  3. Experience of design for manufacture with a background in a production environment would be beneficial.
  4. Ability to work with other design packages such as Autodesk Inventor would be beneficial.
