Position Overview

Gherson LLP is actively looking for a qualified White Collar Crime and Regulatory Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience to join our growing White Collar Crime Team. This team is dedicated to handling intricate and high-stakes cases related to Extradition, Mutual Legal Assistance, Interpol, Criminal Litigation, and Regulatory Investigations, among others.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate effectively with experienced colleagues across various teams within the firm. We seek a solicitor who is not only skilled but also confident in managing challenging and demanding cases, with the backing of the firm's expertise and external Counsel.

Previous experience in compliance and anti-money laundering is highly desirable, as a significant aspect of this role involves supporting the firm in meeting all compliance and regulatory obligations, as well as training and supervising junior team members. Strong commercial awareness and business acumen are essential for this role.

Qualifications

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  1. A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 2-5 years of experience in extradition or criminal litigation law;
  2. Experience supervising a team of trainee solicitors and paralegals;
  3. Proven track record in business development.

Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate will also possess experience in some of the following areas:

  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrable interest in criminal litigation, particularly financial crime, asset forfeiture, and regulatory matters (experience with prosecuting authorities or regulatory agencies is a plus);
  • Practical experience in criminal litigation, especially in financial crime and Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) cases (interest in the regulation of cryptoassets and blockchain technology is advantageous);
  • Experience working with private clients;
  • Exceptional client management and care skills, with a strong ability to foster new client relationships;
  • A proactive professional approach;
  • Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven drafting ability;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • Flexibility to assist and cover other roles and responsibilities as needed;
  • Capacity to work accurately under pressure;
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all regulatory and compliance obligations.
