About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Counselling Programme Manager to join our team at Change Grow Live. As a key member of our therapeutic services team, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality counselling interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Coordination: Oversee the delivery of our counselling services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
  • Team Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of counsellors, providing them with the support and guidance they need to excel in their roles.
  • Therapeutic Oversight: Review all referrals, conduct assessments to determine suitability for counselling, and manage client allocations, ensuring that our services are accessible and responsive to the needs of our service users.
  • Clinical Supervision: Engage in clinical supervision according to the BACP/UKCP ethical framework, providing a safe and supportive environment for our counsellors to reflect on their practice and develop their skills.
  • Professional Development: Take responsibility for your own professional development, identifying training needs and participating in regular supervision and appraisal to ensure you remain up-to-date with best practice in the field.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with our leadership team to identify areas for improvement and champion a trauma-informed approach to care, ensuring that our services are responsive to the needs of our service users and aligned with our organisational values.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
  • Leadership of Volunteers: Lead on the recruitment and training of volunteer counsellors and counselling students, ensuring that they meet agreed minimum criteria and work to ethical and professional standards.
  • Support and Supervision: Provide high-quality induction, training, clinical supervision, ongoing support, and appraisal to our counselling students and volunteer counsellors, ensuring they have the skills and confidence they need to excel in their roles.
  • Service Development: Work with our leadership team to support and develop our counselling service, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement and implementing changes that enhance the quality and effectiveness of our services.
  • Advocacy: Promote the value and efficacy of counselling volunteering across our partnership and externally, highlighting the benefits of our services and the impact they have on the lives of our service users.
  • Innovation: Identify new opportunities for counselling volunteering roles within our service and organisation, developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of our service users and align with our organisational values.
  • Compliance: Ensure that our counselling students and volunteers adhere to our policies and procedures, with a particular focus on safeguarding, case management, and information security.
About You
  • Professional Level 4 (minimum) Counselling Qualification and working towards BACP accreditation
  • Working towards a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision or equivalent that adheres to BACP ethical principles
  • An excellent knowledge of a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, TA, and Person-Centred approaches
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience of managing teams and developing services
  • Ability to train counselling students and volunteers to support service users utilising a variety of interventions
