About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Counselling and Support Services as Head of Counselling and Practice. As a key member of our Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide clinical leadership and direction to our Counselling and Support Services, ensuring they are safe, proactive, and of high standard.
  2. Oversee the development and implementation of training programs for trainee and volunteer counsellors, as well as peer-led initiatives.
  3. Recruit and manage external clinical supervisors, ensuring adequate supervision of counsellors.
  4. Provide clinical supervision and annual appraisals, as well as reflective practice, to support the growth and development of our team.
  5. Develop and maintain policies and procedures relevant to clinical practice and therapeutic work, ensuring compliance with professional bodies such as BACP.
  6. Contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives and areas of work aligned with our organisational strategy and ambitions.
Requirements
  1. Registration and accreditation as a counsellor with a recognised professional body.
  2. Qualified to provide clinical supervision.
  3. Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  4. Line management experience or experience of supervising work of other staff/volunteers within the health and social care or voluntary sector.
  5. Experience of working within service level agreements and contracts.
  6. Experience of providing structured counselling/psychotherapy within a recognised framework in a relevant field.
  7. Experience of developing and delivering training sessions, workshops.
  8. Experience of positive and effective team working.
  9. Experience of working as a clinical practitioner with people from diverse social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  10. Knowledge and experience dealing with safeguarding issues and appropriate responses.
