Job Summary

Norfolk County Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our award-winning communications team. As the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the council's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy that engages stakeholders, promotes the council's brand, and builds relationships with key partners.
  • Lead a team of communications professionals to deliver high-quality communications outputs, including press releases, social media content, and stakeholder engagement materials.
  • Provide strategic advice to the council's senior leadership team on communications and stakeholder engagement.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local media, community groups, and partner organizations.
  • Monitor and analyze communications metrics to inform future communications strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in communications and public affairs, with a strong track record of success in complex political environments.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of communications professionals.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective communications strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
