Job Summary:
Sanctuary Personnel Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Family Support Team in Milton Keynes. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing expert support, advice, and guidance to a Children's Social Care team, working on complex cases and mentoring staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert knowledge, skills, and experience to a Children's Social Care team, taking responsibility for complex cases, mentoring staff, and providing support, advice, and guidance.
- Deliver effective social work assessment, care planning, and interventions in sensitive and complex cases to improve the safety, development, and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Supervise the casework of social workers, social work assistants, students, and childcare professionals to ensure they receive appropriate supervision and direction.
- Resolve complex and contentious case management issues, working with the Deputy/Team Manager to address risks and meet demands.
- Take lead responsibility for an area of children's service development and contribute to partnership working across Children's Services and partners.
- Assist the team/deputy team manager in building a strong and cohesive team and be on call for emergencies within their team or other teams in the service.
- Participate in quality audits of the team's and other teams' work, developing and writing policies and procedures as requested.
- Assist in the allocation, prioritization, and planning of caseloads, working with Deputy/Team Managers across the service.
- Represent the Local Authority in complex public and private law proceedings, including giving oral evidence in court and writing court statements.
Requirements:
- Highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner with a strong background in Children's Social Care.
- Ability to work on complex cases and provide expert support, advice, and guidance to a Children's Social Care team.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience of supervising staff and developing policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple deadlines.
