Job Title:

Project Development Lead Associate

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Development Lead Associate to join our team at EDP Energias de Portugal S.A. The successful candidate will play a key role in the land strategy for wind, solar, and storage projects in the prospecting phase, taking a lead role in negotiating and delivering land rights for solar, storage, and wind projects, and managing ongoing relationships with land stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Management of internal land negotiations
  2. Representing EDP Renewables professionally, establishing and maintaining good relationships with landowners, tenant farmers, estate managers, land agents, and any others involved in land management on behalf of landowners.
  3. Setting up partnerships with external land service providers and participating in competitive tender processes.
  4. Familiarity with and being able to understand farming and forestry economics and regulations.
  5. Attending consultations and meetings with stakeholder groups.
  6. Liaising with and managing in-house and external grid, technical, legal, GIS, planning, and development resources.
  7. Technical support for project managers on land issues, definition of land strategies with project managers, anticipation of land issues, handling of land issues in coordination with the legal and engineering departments.
  8. Supporting the project managers in the ending phase of the final leases (notary, surveyor, etc.).
  9. Implementation of procedures related to storage, solar, and wind farm land issues.
Requirements:
  1. Academic Level:

Educated to degree level. Ideally qualified in a suitable subject (rural surveying, estate management).

Chartered Surveyor status is preferable.

  1. Required Professional Experience:

3 - 5 years' experience in solar, storage, and/or wind project development from a land management perspective.

  1. Specific Knowledge:
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience of concluding land transactions.
  • Good understanding of forestry, farming, and commercial property sectors, sustainability, and land management.
  • Experience of the wind, solar, and/or wind development process.
  • Good client-facing skills and able to communicate complex and technical information and concepts to non-technical third parties.
  • Broad knowledge of investment, valuations, and funding of projects.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Microsoft Office Package.
  1. Languages:

Fluent English.

  1. Skills/Competences:
  • A driving license is essential.
  • Previous land surveying experience, ideally in Renewables.
  • Excellent negotiation, presenting, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as a key part of a team.
  • Excellent written English and report writing skills.
  • Capable organization skills and a collaborative and skilled communicator.
