About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a SEN school near Colchester. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, providing one-on-one and group support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist teachers and therapists in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and supporting student development.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive relationships and behaviors among students.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement strategies to support students with SEMH needs.
  • Be a source of motivation, encouragement, and positivity for students, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children who have additional learning needs or challenging behavior is desirable, but not essential.
  • A valid DBS check on the update service is required, or be willing to apply for one.
  • The passion and drive to work with children and make a positive impact on their lives is essential.
  • Able to use your own initiative to get involved and support students in a variety of settings.
