SHE Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHE Manager to join our site leadership team at Newark Desserts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving a culture of health and safety on site and leading the environmental agenda.
Your primary focus will be on creating and executing a behavioral safety program through mentoring, coaching, and supporting front-line teams. You will also be responsible for devising and implementing site SHE strategies to enable the delivery of a proactive SHE culture across the entire site.
Your Responsibilities- Design and drive a culture of continuous improvement through effective engagement of the workforce, with a particular focus on health and safety and best environmental practice.
- Create and execute a behavioral safety program through mentoring, coaching, and supporting front-line teams.
- Devise and implement site SHE strategies to enable the delivery of a proactive SHE culture across the entire site.
- Manage and lead the SHE Advisor to ensure effective performance.
- Ensure all health, safety, and environment legal requirements, policies, standards, procedures are interpreted, communicated, documented, and systems exist to ensure the business unit is compliant with current legislation and Bakkavor policy regarding SHE.
- Develop, implement, maintain, communicate, and continuously improve the health, safety, and environment management system for the business, ensuring all relevant paperwork and reports are completed and issued to relevant parties as required.
- Design, implement, monitor, and report site SHE performance, analyze trends, and develop action plans to deliver site targets regarding SHE.
- Identification and coordination of SHE training and development for managers, enabling effective management of SHE in every respect and ensuring key personnel involved in health and safety activities are competent to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Monitor site risk assessment process and provide assistance/advice to site assessors to ensure site risk assessments/safe systems of work are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate business unit actions with regard to enforcement authorities/loss adjusters and that any communications are reported to the Head of Operations.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced SHE Manager with a strong background in health and safety and environmental management. You will have a NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma or equivalent level 5 or 6 qualification in H&S & Environment, and be a Chartered member of IOSH. You will also have leadership experience working for an organization with a large number of employees, and experience in a health and safety role.
You will be passionate about SHE and able to influence at a senior level and champion change/implementation at all levels. You will have strong communication skills, both in terms of verbal/presentation skills and written documentation, and be a team player. You will be able to demonstrate compliance to legislation and use of problem-solving skills/personal judgment as well as policy adherence in order to make optimum business decisions.
