About the Role

Arup's mechanical engineers provide innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance the long-term value of properties. Our experience encompasses passive and energy-efficient solutions that contribute to sustainable building design, and appraisal and retrofit for better performing services in existing buildings.

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects supporting both local, national and global clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing estate-wide net zero roadmaps, creating low/zero carbon building designs and carrying out advanced energy modelling for accreditations such as Nabers Design for Performance.
  • Reviewing existing buildings/sites to identify potential decarbonisation opportunities.
  • Authoring and checking decarbonisation plans for existing buildings and decarbonisation approaches/net zero carbon roadmaps.
  • Formulating energy strategy approaches for new build projects/developments with support from other Arup specialists, identifying appropriate energy modelling approaches and interpreting energy modelling results.
  • Working closely with the energy modelling team to help quantify the impact of energy saving solutions on projects.

Requirements

  • BEng, MEng or MSc in Building Services Engineering, energy or related field.
  • Good appreciation of UKGBC, LETI & CIBSE publications and net zero approaches.
  • Familiar with the building energy modelling process and how this can be implemented effectively on projects.
  • Knowledgeable of key considerations at different building design stages, construction & in-use.
