We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Domestic Services Team at Countess of Chester Hospital. We have permanent roles available for various shifts, including:

Available Shift Options Include:

Early Morning: 5am to 8am

Morning: Until 1pm, Monday to Friday

Afternoon to Evening: 1pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday

These positions are essential for maintaining a comprehensive range of cleaning tasks within a healthcare setting, operating seven days a week.

The domestic team upholds exceptionally high cleanliness standards. After completing thorough training, successful candidates will be responsible for a variety of domestic duties, including cleaning restrooms, patient areas, disposing of waste, and replenishing hygiene supplies.

Key Responsibilities

To ensure a clean and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to National Standards of Cleanliness. Build and maintain effective working relationships and clear communication with Supervisors, Ward Teams, Departmental staff, Patients, and Visitors. The domestic assistant will play a vital role in the healthcare team, contributing to the overall care and well-being of patients.

About Our Organization

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust serves the West Cheshire community and Welsh patients under the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust collaborates within the broader Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership, providing services from three key locations:

Countess of Chester Hospital: offering 438 general and acute beds Ellesmere Port Hospital: featuring 56 beds for rehabilitation, intermediate, and outpatient care Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a hub for community services catering to the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 6,258 staff members, including temporary bank staff, delivering acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services, and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire, along with the Deeside area of Flintshire.

The Trust is a busy district general hospital, with over 503,342 patient attendances recorded, ranging from outpatient appointments to major surgical procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Recruitment and selection processes are based on competencies (refer to the Person Specification).

Please note that applicants will be responsible for the cost of their DBS check, which will be deducted from their salary upon appointment. The DBS application fee is £23 (standard) or £43 (enhanced), to be deducted over the first three months of employment.

New employees to the NHS will start at the minimum of the pay scale indicated.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Commitment to in-house training on cleaning protocols.

Desirable

Nationally recognized training in 'Cleaning and Support Services' (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ level 2).

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Enjoys working collaboratively within a team. Understanding of Infection Prevention & Control in a healthcare environment. Familiarity with COSHH and the NHS color coding system.

Desirable

Previous experience in a healthcare cleaning role.
