Position Overview

The Community Midwifery Team Supervisor plays a pivotal role in guiding and inspiring Community Midwives to provide exceptional care. This position involves overseeing daily operations within the community team, ensuring effective management and resolution of unforeseen circumstances. The Supervisor is responsible for the professional and managerial leadership of the team, which includes planning, executing, and assessing care to guarantee a positive experience for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the clinical, managerial, and educational needs of the community midwifery team.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality, evidence-based midwifery services.
  • Exhibit competence and confidence across all areas of midwifery practice, serving as an expert resource in low-risk antenatal, normal birth, and postnatal care.
  • Guarantee effective 24-hour on-call support and low-risk birthing services.
  • Collaborate with other Team Supervisors and the broader multidisciplinary team to optimize resource allocation.
  • Act as a deputy for the Community Matron and BC Manager.
  • Support and manage community midwifery teams effectively.
  • Drive team developments that enhance continuity of care for women and families, aligning with national initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of care for women and their families, adhering to both unit and national guidelines.
  • Provide clinical supervision and oversight of caseloads.
  • Facilitate care plans for women birthing outside of standard guidelines, ensuring family involvement in the planning process.
  • Promote collaborative working with local family colleagues and adherence to relevant policies.
