Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Expert Midwifery Care: Deliver direct inpatient midwifery care within a safe and supportive environment, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well-being of women, birthing people, and their babies.
- Assess, Plan, and Implement Care: Prioritize, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care to the highest standards, ensuring effective communication with women, babies, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate Effectively: Maintain sensitive and effective communication with women, babies, their families, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Support Ward Management: Collaborate with the Ward Manager/Team Leader to monitor delegated responsibilities, ensuring smooth operation of the ward.
- Document Patient Care: Maintain accurate, accountable, and defensible patient documentation in accordance with Trust and NMC policies, communicating changes in patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team.
- Clinical Competence: Demonstrate competence in clinical skills for delivering high-quality midwifery care, adhering to Trust and NMC standards.
- Organize Multi-Professional Care: Assist in organizing and managing multi-professional care for women and families, ensuring comprehensive support.
- Adhere to Legislation: Comply with Child Protection, Vulnerable Adult, and Mental Health legislation, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
Requirements:
- NMC Registration: Hold valid NMC registration as a Midwife and possess community experience.
- Clinical Skills: Possess experience with IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, and newborn resuscitation.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrate the ability to evaluate midwifery care and apply NMC Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.
- Interpersonal Skills: Possess the ability to deal courteously with difficult people and demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours.
