Job Opportunity

Ground Segment Software Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Architect to join our team at KDC, a leading company in the space industry. As a Software Architect, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients' pivotal project work and contributing to the development of innovative Ground Segment Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Software Design Authority
    • Design and develop software-based Ground Segment Systems, including Monitoring and Control Segment Systems, Mission Systems, User Segment Systems, and Earth Observation Data Management Systems.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Plan and execute Integration and Test campaigns.
    • Produce technical documents and development plans.
    • Participate in technical reviews and prepare proposals to win new work.
  • Software Development
    • Contribute to hands-on software development support to projects, including coding, code review, prototyping, and validating approaches and frameworks.

Requirements

  • University Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or a related discipline with software modules.
  • At least 10 years of commercial experience in software development, preferably in the space industry.

Essential Skills

  • Requirements analysis.
  • Software system design using modern architectures.
  • Configuration management (Git source code control).
  • Agile software development methodology.
  • Linux development.
  • Resource-Oriented Architecture Development (REST).
  • Continuous integration/deployment environments (Jenkins).
  • Virtualization/cloud-based computing.
  • Containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • DevOps.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Ground Segment Systems.
  • Machine learning and AI.
  • Knowledge of OGC Standards (WPS, WMS, WFS, WCS).
  • User identification, authentication, and authorization (SAML, OAUTH, OIDC).
  • Big data processing and frameworks (Hadoop).
  • Big data databases (HDFS, other non-SQL).
  • Windows development.
  • Scripting (shell, perl, python).
